The children in Fox class have had a very exciting spring term, which even included a whole school trip to London!
As part of their ‘London’ topic, they learnt all about the human and physical features. They explored maps and atlases to try and find out where the features are located and even created their own map of London. The children also created their own booklets filled with facts they had found about the most famous landmarks in London. Did you know Big Ben is actually the name of the bell in the Elizabeth Tower which is part of the Houses of Parliament?!
During our ‘London’ topic, the children also learnt about the Great Fire that occurred in 1666. They read extracts from Samuel Pepys diary in order to discover what happened and then wrote their own diary entries as if they were Samuel Pepys. They included words such as ‘devastating’ and ‘inconsolable’ to describe how they thought people might have felt during the fire.
The topic for the Summer term is ‘Rainforests’ and we look forward to sharing our learning with you.
