Dear Parents and Carers
This term we are learning about traditional tales.
We started with 'The Enormous Turnip' which involved lots of counting. We enjoyed making bread after hearing about 'The Little Red Hen' and learnt some actions to help us tell the story. Then we found out about 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. We were very busy investigating the mystery of the broken chair in the classroom and eventually discovered that it was Goldilocks who broke it. Next we looked at 'The Three Little Pigs' and tried to make houses of our own, both with construction inside and sticks in the Forest School. Most recently we have been hearing 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. We have planted some beans of our own and are looking forward to watching them grow.
With all these stories the children have been encouraged to join in with the repeated phrases and recognise the familiar beginnings and endings, such as 'Once upon a time...' and '...happily ever after.'
In Funky Fingers at the beginning of each session the children practise fine motor skills such as cutting, writing and threading. Please make sure you arrive on time as several children miss out on this practise because they are late.
If you are interested in helping us in Nursery with cooking on a Friday, please go to the office to organise a DBS check, get two references and then see us to sign up on the rota.
Magical Moments sheets are still available, so if your child does something special that you are proud of at home, please use these to tell us about it.
Thank you for your continued support
Mrs Dookhun, Mrs Collett and Mrs Sivagaran
