We then listened to the story of Shaun the Shy Shark. We drew the characters and had a go at writing the initial sound of the different sea creatures. We made links with our Under the Sea theme to our Maths sessions. We sorted fish into ponds and then starfish into rock pools to help us learn about the conservation of number. We went outside whatever the weather. We enjoyed exploring our new water wall in the garden. There was lots of problem-solving taking place as the children worked out how to transport the water.
The last week of term was PE and Music Focus Week. We participated in lots of physical and musical activities. We enjoyed using the Adventure Playground and exploring the Reception Garden. The children were delighted to have parents visit to play their musical instruments and even sang some songs along with the music. They also performed songs to a Reception Class and had the chance to be the audience as they performed songs for us too. We also had a go at making musical instruments and healthy fruit kebabs.
In other learning we explored and had a go at describing 2D and 3D shapes and looking at various logos. We also introduced a ‘Letter of the Week’ to learn the different sounds of the alphabet.
