The children in Robin class have really enjoyed the last half term, learning all about life under the sea!
In English the children read The Rainbow Fish. They loved retelling the story as a class and acting it out in small groups. Once the children knew the story really well they were able to re-tell the story using lots of descriptive language.
In Maths the children explored finding the difference between two numbers by counting along a number line. They also used this skill to help them find the missing number in a number sentence (e.g. 4 + __ = 6).
In History the children learned about seaside holidays from the past. They looked at holiday pictures from various different decades and looked for clues that would help them put the photos in chronological order. They finished off the unit by writing a newspaper report describing a seaside holiday from the past.
The children absolutely loved all the fun activities organized for them during PE and Music Focus Week. They made musical instruments, cooked a healthy pizza, and took part in TAG Rugby and other PE workshops throughout the week. All the children enjoyed watching the talent show- we were all very proud of the year 1 children who took part.
The ‘Under the Sea’ the sea topic will continue for the rest of the Summer Term. We look forward to sharing more of our wonderful learning with you.
