Autumn Term 1
Our first topic in Reception is 'All About Me', which focuses on developing the children's independence and confidence whilst settling in to a new environment. This gives the children the opportunity to get to know each other and build new relationships.
Once the children have settled, we join the rest of the school to learn through the topic of 'To Infinity and Beyond.' Age appropriate and fun activities are planned as a Reception team, ensuring all children are challenged in their learning.
Autumn Term 2
Our topic for this half term in Reception is 'As Cold as Ice', which focuses on changes in our environment around us and in different places around the world, as well as using our forest school to look at the weather and seasonal changes. We be exploring religious festivals and celebrations from different cultures and sharing some of our own beliefs and values. We will be reading a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts to support our learning through this topic.
Our topic for the Spring term is 'London', which enables us to explore our capital city and the fantastic landmarks it has to offer. We will be looking at transport old and new, learning about buildings and finding out about the royal family. We will be reading a variety of fiction, non-fiction and poetry texts to support our learning through this topic and bringing the topic to life with a trip to the London Transport Museum.
